2011 Annual Report: Hot Off the Prezi…

First 5 Contra Costa’s 2011 Annual Report to the Community is now available, and we’ve tried something new. Instead of sending out an expensive printed report, we’ve designed this year’s report in Prezi, an engaging online presentation software.

Check it out to learn more about our funded programs, who these services are reaching, and their positive impact on Contra Costa’s young children and families. You can also watch short videos and meet families and providers directly benefiting from our funded programs.

Don’t have time to click through? Then here are some key takeaways to download now:

Special thanks to all of our partners, who despite the ongoing threat of state budget cuts last year, remarkably served over 15,700, children, parents, and child care providers.

Together, we’re making investments that will last a lifetime.

Easy as Prezi: A Powerpoint Alternative

Move beyond a bullet list presentation in Powerpoint and try Prezi, a more visually interesting alternative to Powerpoint and Keynote.

Simple to use and engaging, Prezi is a free online tool that takes the work of data visualists like Edward Tufte and Stephen Few and applies it to entire presentations. Using a large virtual whiteboard, users can literally map a presentation from big picture to details. Viewers never lose sight of the context.

I recently hosted a short webinar for the American Evaluation Association’s Coffee Break series on Prezi, which drew a record number of participants.  Follow the link below for an abbreviated version of this webinar.  You’ll see an example of a prezi and how easy it is to add text, pdfs, photos, and even videos to a presentation.
