First 5 Centers RFQ from First 5 Contra Costa

First 5 Contra Costa is seeking an aligned partnership with organizations to operate one or more of our five First 5 Centers (known also as Family Resource Centers) for a 3 year contract. Help realize a vision where all of Contra Costa’s children grow up healthy, ready for school, and supported in safe, nurturing families and communities.

First 5 Contra Costa’s centers have been operating in partnership with funded nonprofits and communities for more than 20 years to support pregnant and parenting families with children ages 0 to 5. The First 5 Centers have evolved into somewhat of a “franchise” type model, that includes no-cost use of the Center, furnishings and program supplies, experienced pool of potential staff, an active client database, a play book and hands-on support and training for a successful Center. 

Explore this funding opportunity to become an operator of a First 5 Center, which delivers  quality critical early childhood that are responsive to the needs of the community.

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • February 22, 2023: RFQ Release Date
  • March 9, 2023: Online Informational Meeting from 1-3 pm. REGISTER TODAY.
  • April 6, 2023: Deadline for Proposal Submissions
  • On or Before May 8, 2023:  Notice of Intent to Fund
  • July 1, 2023 Contract begins.
    • Upon award: Successful applicants will receive orientation, technical assistance and a period of time to ramp up First 5 Center operations.

  • First 5 Contra Costa’s vision is where all of Contra Costa’s children grow up healthy, ready for school, and supported in safe, nurturing families and communities.
  • First 5 Centers support parents: our workshops and classes help parents raise healthy, happy children, and are a great way to make new friends. Each Center has staff to connect families to helpful community resources.
  • Fun for the whole family: choose from over 20 classes each month, like art, science, cooking, dance, music, movement, baby sign language, preparing for kindergarten, and storytime. There’s also drop-in playtime, Saturday classes, monthly events, and classes focused on dads.
  • Our staff are child development experts: First 5 Center staff are trained to check children’s growth and development—when children or parents need help, they know what to do.
