About:
As an extension of the Black Girls Mental Health Collective, the Black Girls Mental Health Foundation leverages cutting-edge research, rigorous evaluations, and targeted funding efforts to support and enhance maternal care, striving to create a supportive environment where Black mothers can access the resources and support they need during the perinatal period.

Overview of Project:
Brought together Black-led and Black-serving organizations across maternal health, mental wellness, early childhood development, birth work, and family support. Through convenings, partners strengthened collaboration, sustainability, and organizational capacity.
Accomplishments:
The project successfully brought organizations together, expanding beyond the original convening model and strengthening the infrastructure and capacity of Black-led organizations.
- Through two convenings, partners strengthened relationships, developed shared tools and a collaborative funding strategy, and formed four working groups to continue the work.
- The consortium committed to continuing as a monthly convening series, with a shared goal of pursuing $1 million in collaborative funding over the next 12 months.
The project continues to strengthen the relationships, tools, and organizational infrastructure needed to support future advocacy by Black-led organizations. Since the grant period ended, the collaborative has also applied for its first service provider contract.
