Building Blocks Mini-Grants: Building power through partnership

About:

The Northern California Family Child Care Alliance (NCALFCCA) is a network of child care providers and professionals committed to supporting providers, families, and the communities they serve. NCALFCCA strengthens family child care by building stronger relationships among providers and connecting them with the broader community.

Overview of Project:

Through advocacy workshops, storytelling, and a community event, the project created opportunities for providers to build advocacy skills, strengthen relationships, and connect with community leaders and policymakers.

Accomplishments:

The project strengthened leadership, advocacy skills, and connections among Latino, immigrant, and bilingual family child care providers, increasing their confidence to share their experiences and engage in future policy discussions.

  • Hosted advocacy workshops focused on public speaking, storytelling, and developing advocacy messages
  • Supported providers in preparing to share their lived experiences in policy and community conversations
  • Hosted a community advocacy event at the San Pablo Library, where providers shared their experiences with elected officials, community leaders, and partner organizations

The project helped build a stronger base of confident, connected providers prepared to elevate their voices and advocate for policies that support children, families, and family child care.
