Local Services & Programs

No one can do it alone. Raising a child takes a village, and First 5 Contra Costa funds the following programs to help you and your family.

Interested in learning more about parenting?

Parenting can be one of the most important and challenging roles. We offer parenting education classes that can help you and your child with challenges, and help you meet other parents and learn from them. First 5 Contra Costa funds a nonprofit called Counseling Options & Parent Education (COPE) to provide free parenting classes in English and Spanish online and at locations throughout the county. Call COPE at (925) 689-5811 today to register for the next class.

Have questions about your child’s development or behavior?

No matter how big or how small, Help Me Grow Contra Costa can answer parents’ everyday questions about their children from birth to age 5. Call our Help Me Grow Contra Costa hotline available 24 hours a day at 211 to talk to staff trained to help parents with young children. You can also find out about free screenings to check how your child is growing and developing.

Want to learn more about leadership and how to advocate for your child, family and community?

We train parent volunteers on leadership, advocacy, and how to change policy. Learn more about our three Regional Groups that build power among those underrepresented in public decision-making and advocate for healthy, safe, and equitable communities for children and families.
