July 3, 2023 Update

We are thrilled to announce the re-opening dates for our First 5 Centers after their temporary closure at the end of the fiscal year:
- Delta Center –July 10
- East County Center – July 10
- West County – July 17
- Monument Center – July 24
- The Antioch Center plans to re-open in mid August.
We encourage families to check each Center’s social media and each Center’s webpages for their July and August programming schedules and other details. We would like to thank families and communities for their patience as many of the First 5 Centers experience transitions related to our recent process to select operators.

June 21, 2023 Update
Each year our five First 5 Centers close temporarily at the end of June and beginning of July to prepare for the next fiscal year of services. Given that two centers – East County and Monument – will be re-opening in mid July with new operators, there may be some staffing changes at those sites and additional changes.
We encourage families to check each Center’s social media and each Center’s webpages for new information on July and August programming schedules and other details.

First 5 Contra Costa is in a process to select partners to operate its five First 5 Centers. Like many government entities, First 5 Contra Costa must follow certain rules to ensure all eligible organizations can compete to be selected as an operator at any of our Centers. In February, we released Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for this purpose.
Several nonprofits applied to be considered and First 5 Contra Costa used the criteria outlined in the RFQ to guide the process. We are pleased to report that we have chosen who those operators will be. First 5 Contra Costa is currently in discussion with those organizations to be center operators starting July 1, 2023:

First 5 Contra Costa is committed to continuing to provide excellent services to the children and families in our county and our priority is to work with partners and families to ensure smooth transitions, and that services to families are minimally impacted.
