Quality Matters

Supporting child care providers in Contra Costa County to offer the best quality early care and education possible to children 0-5 years of age.

What is Quality Matters?

Quality Matters is a program in Contra Costa County that helps child care providers improve the quality of early care and education for children from birth to age 5. Whether you’re running a large center, providing family child care, or offering license-exempt care, Quality Matters is here to support you.

How does it help Providers?

Child care providers in Contra Costa County can join the program to receive training, coaching, support and advice at no-cost to them. Each early learning program will work with coaches and other experts to develop quality improvement goals specifically for their program. Programs can receive no-cost assessments of their program quality to help inform their quality improvement planning.

Quality Matters is a collaboration between First 5 Contra Costa, the Contra Costa County Office of Education, and CocoKids, and is the county’s Quality Rating & Improvement System (QRIS) program. Currently, more than 150 child care programs in the county actively participate in Quality Matters.
