Central County Regional Group

Who are We

The Central County Regional Group has trained and organized parent volunteer leaders to build power among those underrepresented in public decision-making and to advocate for healthy, safe, and equitable communities for children and families. All Central County residents who care about children are welcome to participate.

Policy Advocacy Efforts

Housing

Working with the Raise the Roof Coalition, the Central County Regional Group worked on a community campaign to establish rent control and just cause eviction policies for affordable and stable housing citywide. In 2018, the coalition worked with other partners to produce a report on the housing crisis in Concord.

Park Equity and Safety

The group has also led advocacy efforts to improve local parks and street safety. For example, in 2015 the group worked with other partners to help ensure the City of Concord committed $1.4 million in funding to renovate two of the city’s parks most in need: Ellis Lake and Meadow Homes. Check out the assessment of park conditions that led to this victory.

In the past, the group has also worked on street safety, immigrant and racial justice issues, and more.
